about

“Imbued with huge promise” (Clash)
“Fuzzed up Pavement” (Upset Magazine)
“Pounding drums, strong lyrics, dirty guitars and a powerful soundscape" (Going Solo)
“Nascent Weezer ... Rivers Cuomo in wilder daydreams” (Dots and Dashes)

Human Emotion is arguably the most concise, and rounded piece of pop music the band has released to date, yet the Lo-Fi textures which lurked from a distance on previous efforts now rip straight to the core of the bands sound. Whilst previous singles saw the band tip a proverbial hat towards 90s US sitcom Seinfeld for inspiration, Human Emotion brings it home, morphing influences from UK cult-classic series Black Mirror providing the stimulus.

lyrics

Another girl, with a broken heart.
She’s got me on my knees picking up the parts.
I wish i could just talk to you,
And you could understand that there’s not long left,
And it’s a chance i won’t get back again.
Toothless and second best, perfection is my protest,
It’s taking over my life, don’t make me wait till i’m dead.
Because i’ve got deadlines baby that you just don’t get.
It’s nice to be alone,
I feel older now than ever before.
Because baby if you love me.
Let me know.
Before i have to live as a robot boy with a robot heart,
I’m the same inside but with metal parts.
I can’t think or feel i’m incapable of love,
Or human emotion in synthetic form.
Now we’re all alone,
We can just forget our lives they are gone.
Here in San Junipero, We’ll live on.
And every day we’ll dance and sing.
Heaven is a place on Earth,
And we’ll know exactly what it’s worth.
It’s just a flip of a switch and i’m always home so yeah,
I’ll wait for forever if you want.
